This was my first book by S. M. Gaither and I am definitely going to fix that because her storytelling and world building was phenomenal and I need more. I could not put this book down and there was some really good plot twists! That ending got me good and I am in more love with this book because of it!I loved Casia and her crew, I felt like they were a group of people I would love to be around and I hope we get a lot more interaction between them all in the next book. Casia alone is such a fierce warrior and friend. Elander was a great addition to the plot and I loved his interactions with Casia. He had some good mystery around him and I needed to know everything about him.I loved that this book was so long, I prefer big books and this did not let me down. Even though it was long it didn't feel slow at all. If you love epic fantasy of any sort you need to check out this book! (spoiler free)Okay, I haven’t actually left a review for a book in months. I got lazy. Sue me.This was one of the MANY books recommended to me via Instagram (thanks for that, by the way) and I jokingly call the books I devour on KU my “trashy fantasy spice on Kindle unlimited.”Now let me say - THIS WAS NOT TRASH AT ALL.I am totally and completely in love with Elander, idc. And Cas as well. #bipanicI enjoyed their banter SO MUCH and I like reading spicy romance, so this book was amazing. I can’t wait to read the next one.Only critique I give was the beginning was a bit slow - and by that I mean I’m impatient and looking for quick entertainment, but I’ll acknowledge the world building was essential to understanding the plot line.WHICH BY THE WAY HAD AN IMMACULATE PLOT TWIST. LOVED IT. CANT WAIT FOR MORE.Anyway if the author manages to see this, THANK YOU for bringing Casia and Elander into my life.
